As Apple's GPU plans go public, Imagination fears becoming a tech orphan

As Apple's GPU plans go public, Imagination fears becoming a tech orphan: "This suggests that Apples move away from Imagination--a company it has small vested stake in--is not driven by costs as much as a desire to move to radically new technology that Imagination itself couldn't deliver and that Apple doesn't want to share with its competitors."

I guess Apple doesn't want to subsidize inexpensive GPUs for Android devices. Is this a surprise?

Apple introduces Metal for Mac, promises huge leap in graphics performance

Apple introduces Metal for Mac, promises huge leap in graphics performance: "At WWDC on Monday, Apple SVP of Software Engineering Craig Federighi announced Metal for Mac, which combines the power of OpenCL and graphics crunching capability of OpenGL into a unified API that reduces draw rendering times by 50 percent."
I had a hard time finding any actual developer announcements during the keynote, but this is a favorite.
