Google 'screwed over' its non-millennials – now they can all fight back • The Register

Google 'screwed over' its non-millennials – now they can all fight back • The Register: "By certifying the case, the court allows the plaintiffs to take on Google's legal might as a combined force, rather than individually. This, in turn, increases the likelihood of a favorable settlement from Cali-based Google.

The complaint, originally filed in April of 2015, claims that Google discriminates against job candidates over the age of 40 when screening them. The suit accuses Google of violating the US Age Discrimination in Employment Act."

A fairly obvious and simple explanation why Android can't even get copy and paste working correctly. The employees are too young to remember how copy and paste are actually supposed to work.

Apple has sold more than 1 billion iPhones: "Last week we passed another major milestone when we sold the billionth iPhone," Cook said. "We never set out to make the most, but we've always set out to make the best products that make a difference. Thank you to everyone at Apple for helping change the world every day."

Microsoft releases Windows 10 preview for Raspberry Pi 3 • The Register

Microsoft releases Windows 10 preview for Raspberry Pi 3 • The Register: "Microsoft's keen to be associated with the Pi mission of teaching computing to kiddies. But Redmond also has its own interests to advance, namely that that Windows 10 IoT Core provides hooks a-plenty to Azure, with the cloudy service offering all sorts of as-a-services that thing-makers can use to collect and crunch data."

Strategic thinking at it's best.

Lumia 950 review: Windows Phone finally has a new flagship—will anyone care? | Ars Technica

Lumia 950 review: Windows Phone finally has a new flagship—will anyone care? | Ars Technica This is the kind of thing that would probably matter more if there were an abundance of games for the platform; something that might equally provide the impetus to make the drivers better. As it is, I don't know if it's ever a problem. There wasn't anything I did on the phone that showed off this weak 3D performance, but these metrics are certainly not what I'd hope to see.
Don't look at the bench. Don't look at the bench.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 could have insane 5.9-inch 4K Ultra HD display | 9to5Google

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 could have insane 5.9-inch 4K Ultra HD display | 9to5Google: "While only a small but growing number of users have even upgraded their desktop computer with a 4K monitor, a new report from PhoneArena claims that Samsung will start mass-producing a 5.9-inch 4K Ultra HD Super AMOLED display in August. Conveniently, that is around the time Samsung might begin manufacturing its Galaxy Note 5."
Personally, I think Apple should ignore MS on the desktop, keep Mac OS X stable and clean and tighten up iOS, which is going bloaty. I use Dolphin on the Nexus 7 and actually prefer it to Chrome on the desktop for most tasks.

Institutional ownership of Apple stock reaches new 5-year low

Institutional ownership of Apple stock reaches new 5-year low - Other potential opportunities for Apple cited by Huberty include mobile payments and advertising services. She sees Apple's Touch ID fingerprint sensor and 64-bit A7 processor, along with the company's nearly 600 million App Store accounts and 380 million Bluetooth Low Energy devices on the market, as having laid the groundwork for such services to debut in the future.

While fingerprint sensors are cool, I personally prefer email that works reliably. And not having to spend months rewriting fully debugged code to respond to some fashion trend. If I had to make a prediction: that both Google and Apple would underestimate the Microsoft-Nokia confluence. Point in case is the AT&T goPhone / Nokia 520.
