Google: Gmail Users Can't Legitimately Expect Privacy
Google doesn't believe that people can reasonably expect their emails to stay private. At least, that's what the internet giant articulated in a brief that was filed last month in federal court and recently surfaced by Consumer Watchdog. The document was written in response to a class-action lawsuit accusing Google of violating wiretap law when it scans emails to serve up targeted ads."
Who cares if an automated bot reads your email? It's not like a creepy nerd is sitting over your shoulder watching things. It's more like a robot without a real brain.
