Microsoft brings Visual Studio Code, .NET Core preview to Mac

Microsoft brings Visual Studio Code, .NET Core preview to Mac: "The newly released software lets users develop code in .NET, JavaScript, and a number of other frameworks and languages. Microsoft described the app as 'incredibly lightweight,' but with features such as Git version tracking and full IntelliSense support. IntelliSense attempts to automatically detect problems like bad syntax or spelling mistakes."
Would be interested to know if they dogfooded this or used Xamarin to port it.

Apple Watch found to be compliant with Qi wireless charging standard

Apple Watch found to be compliant with Qi wireless charging standard
AppleInsider reader Albert C. Lee reached out on Friday to share his video, where he shows the Apple Watch magnetic charger being used with the Moto 360. This would seem to confirm that Apple's charger is Qi-compatible, despite the fact that Apple has not been announced as a supporter of the Qi standard.

Apple usually supports standards, sometimes they simply invent it and give it away to everyone else.

Final Cut creator Randy Ubillos leaves Apple after 20 years

Final Cut creator Randy Ubillos leaves Apple after 20 years: "Ubillos started out at Adobe, where he worked on the first three versions of its Premier software. He later jumped ship to Macromedia where he helped to create KeyGrip, a pro video editing program based on Apple's QuickTime.

KeyGrip was later renamed Final Cut, though Macromedia could not release it due to licensing issues. Apple eventually purchased the Final Cut team and software outright, and saw its development through.

In addition to Final Cut, Ubillos was also responsible for the creation of both iMovie and Aperture during his time at Apple."
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Google: Net Neutrality doesn’t move the needle for consumers, enabling competition is key | 9to5Google: "No consumers are seeing higher speeds than before the order was passed; no consumers are paying less for their Internet services than what they were paying for; no consumers are seeing higher volume caps that they had before; and no consumers have additional choice of providers than they had before."
We're just waiting for that fiber to pass through our neighborhood.

The data was collected from over 26,000 Stack Overflow visitors in 157 countries, though not all of those respondents were Swift users."
Or, Swift developers are more likely to take surveys so they can highly rate their use of Swift. Gimme a break! C89 forever!

Woz goes off-leash -- disses the $17K Apple Watch, says computers will make humans into pets | VentureBeat | Business | by Mark Sullivan

Woz goes off-leash -- disses the $17K Apple Watch, says computers will make humans into pets | VentureBeat | Business | by Mark Sullivan: "The cofounder of Apple, Steve Wozniak, says he has doubts about expensive Apple Watches, sees cars as a natural fit for Apple, and believes that machines will pose a serious threat to humans in the future."
The conspiracy theorist in me says the gold Apple watch is an excuse for Apple to buy physical gold as a hedge against the inmates running the asylum at the Fed. Janet Yellen just said that gold is a store of value and cash (which Apple has a lot of) is not.
